SEG Fabric Printing aka Silicone Edge Graphics

SEG, or Silicone Edge Graphics, is a special form of printed material that is ideal for fabric displays. It has a 14mm silicone beaded edge sewn in which precisely fits into the recessed groove of a tension frame – allowing for completely smooth, wrinkle-free fabric displays. This gives it a sleek, frameless look which is ideal for displaying in exhibitions, as advertising stands and many more applications.

Don’t sacrifice appearance for print quality; all of our SEG fabric is printed up using our HD printing technology which guarantees pin-sharp details and full colour reproduction. If you want something a little bolder, opt for our backlit SEG, which uses a denser fabric to ensure proper light distribution.

Overlocked Edges

All of our silicone edges are sewn using our new automatic overlocking system. This ensures the fabric is stitched precisely to the edge of the silicone, preventing lifting— a common cause of difficult-to-insert graphics and fitting issues.

Ordering the correct size

We use our many years of experience to print SEG fabrics, so know exactly how to ensure you get the right size every time. Simply follow the below guidelines:

  1. Provide us with the FRAME SIZE

  2. Don’t measure the graphics themselves. It can cause sizing issues, stretching and incorrect tension

  3. Measure the frame edge to edge, like the example below:

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Silicone Edge Graphics (SEG)?
Silicone Edge Graphics, commonly known as SEG, are high-resolution tension fabric prints finished with a thin silicone strip (the "welt") sewn directly to the edges. This strip tucks into a recessed groove on a dedicated aluminum frame, creating a drum-tight, borderless, and professional finish.
How do I install or change an SEG fabric print?
One of the main benefits of SEG is the ease of installation: Insert the corners first: Push the silicone welt into the four corners of the frame. The insert the middles: Press the remaining silicone edge into the channel along each side. No tools required: Unlike traditional signage, you can swap graphics in minutes without professional help or specialized equipment.
Are Silicone Edge Graphics fire-rated for indoor use?
Absolutely. At Colour Graphics, we use fire-retardant (B1 certified) fabrics. This makes our SEG displays safe and legal for use in high-traffic commercial environments, such as exhibition halls, retail stores, and airports.
What is the difference between Backlit and Frontlit SEG?
Backlit SEG: Printed on specialised soft backlit fabrics designed to diffuse light evenly. These are used with LED lightboxes to make the colors pop. Frontlit SEG: A standard opaque fabric, sometimes blockout, used for non-illuminated frames or wall-mounted displays. It offers a premium, glare-free matte finish.
Do I need to buy a new frame every time I want a new design?
No! The beauty of the SEG system is its reusability. Once you have the aluminum frame installed, you only need to order "replacement SEG skins." This makes it an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for seasonal retail updates or rotating marketing campaigns.
How should I store my SEG fabric prints?
To avoid heavy creasing, it is best to fold the graphics with the print side facing inward. Store them in a cool, dry place. If creases do appear after storage, they will typically pull tight and disappear once the graphic is tensioned back into the frame.
