100% plastic bottle waste yarn (Repreve) has been woven to replicate the look of plain weave linen with its familiar crisp, yet supple feel. This uncoated textile is designed for paper sublimation printing, ideal for wall hangings, lampshades and soft furnishings. Please note textile widths will vary +/- 2% from batch to batch due to variances in finishing/processing.What makes this fabric "Recycled"? Our recycled linen-look polyester is woven from rPET (recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) yarns. These fibers are created by collecting post-consumer plastic waste, such as water bottles, which are then cleaned, shredded, and spun into high-quality textile filaments. This process diverts plastic from landfills and oceans while requiring significantly less energy and water than producing virgin polyester. Does it actually look and feel like natural linen? Yes. Through advanced texturizing techniques, the recycled fibers are engineered with the characteristic "slubs" and irregular weights found in organic flax. It possesses the same matte finish and sophisticated, rustic drape as Belgian linen, but with a softer hand-feel that lacks the initial coarseness of raw natural fibers. Is recycled polyester as durable as virgin polyester? Absolutely. There is no loss in performance when moving to rPET. Our recycled linen-look poly is a "contract-grade" textile, typically boasting a Martindale rub count of 40,000+. It is highly resistant to pilling, stretching, and abrasion, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic furniture in both residential and commercial settings.
