A luxurious, heavyweight (371gsm), pile fabric with a sumptuous feel and attractive lustre. Made from 100% uncoated polyester, it is suitable for paper sublimation printing. Its smooth, velvet face ensures a stunning, high-quality finish for upholstery and other soft furnishings. Please note textile widths will vary +/- 2% from batch to batch due to variances in finishing/processing.What gives Velvet Shine its distinctive luster? Unlike matte or "dry" velvets, Velvet Shine is woven using high-luster trilobal polyester fibers. These fibers have a triangular cross-section that reflects light rather than absorbing it, creating a shimmering, almost metallic glow across the surface. When the pile is moved or brushed, the fabric transitions between deep tones and brilliant highlights. How does Velvet Shine differ from crushed velvet? While both are lustrous, they are different in texture:
Crushed Velvet: The pile is mechanically twisted and flattened in different directions during production to create a permanent "distressed" shimmer.
Velvet Shine: Features a uniform, upright pile that provides a smooth, liquid-like sheen. It looks more contemporary and "expensive" than the irregular pattern of crushed velvet. Is Velvet Shine durable enough for everyday furniture? Yes. Despite its delicate appearance, Velvet Shine is built on a heavy-duty polyester base. Most variants carry a Martindale rub count of $40,000$ to $100,000$ cycles, making it "contract-grade." It is highly resistant to thinning and abrasion, making it perfect for sofas, headboards, and high-traffic boutique seating.
