It looks like linen and feels like cotton, yet this Fire-Rated, robust, woven textile is made from a blend of environmentally sustainable polyester and waste plastic bottle fibres (Repreve). Inherent FR fabric is made with Fire-Retardant threads that last the lifetime of the material, whereas the fire-retardancy of treated, non-inherent FR fabrics dissipate over time when washed. This textile is uncoated for paper sublimation printing, perfect for lampshades and soft furnishings. Polyester yarns are inherently FR to BS5867. Please note textiles widths will vary +/- 2% from batch to batch due to variances in finishing/processing.What makes this fabric "Eco-Linen-Look"? This fabric is engineered to replicate the high-end, slubby texture of natural flax linen using recycled polyester (rPET). It offers the visual warmth and "organic" feel of a traditional textile but is made from post-consumer plastic waste. This allows designers to achieve a "natural" interior look while meeting strict sustainability targets. Is the flame retardancy a coating or inherent? It is Inherent. The flame-retardant properties are built into the chemical structure of the recycled fibers. Unlike "treated" fabrics where the FR coating can wash off or diminish over time, the safety of this fabric is permanent. It will remain fire-rated for the entire lifespan of the material, regardless of how many times it is laundered. Does it actually feel like real linen? Yes. Modern textile technology allows us to create a "dry" hand-feel that lacks the typical "shiny" or "plastic" sensation of traditional polyester. It features the signature "slubs" (thick and thin yarns) that give natural linen its character, providing a sophisticated matte finish that is soft to the touch.
